Full storyline

The Defence Acquisition Council cleared tri-services defence proposals worth ₹1.10 lakh crore, Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine reported. The outlets reported that the DAC cleared proposals worth ₹1.1 lakh crore to sharpen the capabilities of the armed forces. For the Indian Navy, Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine reported that the DAC cleared the design, development and subsequent procurement of Marine Gas Turbines.

The two outlets also reported that the DAC approved the procurement of Arudhra Radars for the Indian Navy to replace existing Air Route Surveillance Radars at various naval air stations. For the Indian Army, Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine reported that the DAC gave in-principle administrative approval for procurement of CBRN Recce Vehicles, High Mobility Vehicles, Self-Propelled Mechanical Mine Layers, ALHs, Trawl Tanks and Sarvatra Bridge Systems. For the Indian Air Force, the outlets reported that the DAC accorded its Acceptance of Necessity for a ground-based multi-purpose jammer.

Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine further reported that the DAC cleared the procurement of Ground-Based Multi-Purpose Jammers for the IAF. The outlets also reported that the DAC approved the IAF's project to install the Defence Forces Secure Access Card system. Taken together, the reported clearances spanned naval propulsion systems, radar replacements, army mobility and engineering equipment, and air force jamming and access-card systems, according to Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine.

Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine reported that all these tri-services proposals were part of the ₹1.10 lakh crore package cleared by the DAC. The outlets' reporting did not give separate cost figures for each individual proposal within the ₹1.10 lakh crore total. Hindustan Times and The Hindu BusinessLine reported the Navy-related clearances, the Marine Gas Turbines and the Arudhra Radars, as part of the same meeting that cleared the Army and Air Force proposals.

The Army-related clearance covering CBRN Recce Vehicles, High Mobility Vehicles, Mine Layers, ALHs, Trawl Tanks and Sarvatra Bridge Systems was described by the outlets as an in-principle administrative approval rather than a final procurement order. The Air Force clearances, covering the ground-based multi-purpose jammer, its procurement, and the Defence Forces Secure Access Card system, were reported separately but as part of the same set of tri-services proposals.
